First Few Weeks of School in 2nd Grade

We have had an active couple weeks in 2nd grade! Playing in the forest, harvesting in the garden, making homemade salsa and learning a lot! Here are some photos of our highlights.

Welcome back to school!

Adventure awaits in 2nd grade!

Welcome to our classroom, we are so happy to be in school 5 days a week this year! We will continue to wear masks while indoors and practice safe, Covid procedures. I look forward to building a strong classroom community where everyone feels safe, heard and belongs. In second grade we will work hard, be flexible and resilient learners.

We will continue to learn and explore outdoors this year. Please remember to send your child to school each day with durable footwear, proper clothing (including layers ) and a change of clothes to spend lots of time outdoors!

We are lucky to have Chrome Books for all second graders! In order to get your child on a Chrome Book please send inn the permission sheet that was sent home. In class we will be working hard to teach the children how to log on, find websites and navigate online tools. They will be introduced to online platforms we will be using in school for academics. If we do need to send those home at any point we want to make sure it is a smooth transition.

Remember to join Remind! This is a great app that will allow us to stay in contact via email, phone or text (you choose!) Our classroom name is Casarella 2021/2022 code: @6288add3c2 You may always reach me by leaving a message at Academy School or through my email lcasarella@wsesdvt.org and I will get back to you within 24 hours during the school week. However having Remind for quick messages and responses, or if we go fully remote and online again will be crucial. Let me know if you need help setting this up.

School closure Information

Hello Families,
I have been in touch with most of you already and we are on our way to distance learning. For those families I have not been able to reach I hope that this finds you well. If you have not been able to return my phone calls or I don't have an email for you please, (PLEASE!) email me at lcasarella@wsesdvt.org as soon as possible so I may get the student work and pertinent information to you and your child.
I will be heading into school on Wednesday to put together materials for the class and though some hard copies will go home a lot of the learning can be done online. I have created a folder with many resources for you and your children to use. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
